ABOUT THE JCB 1T-2
The JCB 1T-2 is a compact articulated site dumper designed for moving soil, aggregate, rubble and construction materials around smaller or restricted-access sites.
Its hydraulic high-tip skip can be raised before tipping, allowing material to be discharged into skips and higher-sided containers without additional manual handling.
A 1,000 kg maximum payload and 554-litre heaped skip provide useful carrying capacity, while the hydrostatic transmission delivers smooth, straightforward operation.
The narrow body, tight turning circle and articulated steering make the machine particularly useful for housebuilding, landscaping, renovation and small-groundworks projects.
FAQs
How much can the dumper carry?
The JCB 1T-2 has a maximum rated payload of 1,000 kg. This limit must not be exceeded, and the load should be distributed evenly within the skip.
How high can it tip?
With the skip fully raised, the machine has a load-over height of approximately 2.39 metres. The receiving container and surrounding clearance should be checked before tipping.
Can it tip directly into a builders’ skip?
It can discharge into many standard skips and suitable containers. The skip height, opening, ground level and safe approach distance must be checked before use.
How wide is the dumper?
The standard machine is approximately 1.1 metres wide. Some machines may have narrower tyre configurations, so exact access requirements should be confirmed when booking.
Is it suitable for domestic gardens?
Its compact dimensions make it useful for landscaping and residential projects, provided there is sufficient access and the ground can support the machine and its load.
Can it transport concrete?
Yes. It can move suitable quantities of mixed concrete, provided the payload is not exceeded and the skip is cleaned immediately after use.

Can the skip be raised while travelling?
No. The skip should remain fully lowered during travel. Raising the loaded skip increases the centre of gravity and significantly reduces stability.
What ground is required for high tipping?
The dumper must be stationary on firm, level ground before the skip is raised or tipped. High tipping must not be attempted on slopes, soft ground or unstable surfaces.
Do I need experience to operate it?
Yes. The dumper must only be operated by someone who is trained, competent and authorised to use the machine.
Does the operator need to wear a seatbelt?
Yes. The seatbelt must be worn whenever the dumper is operated. It works with the ROPS to protect the operator in the event of an overturn.
Can passengers ride on the dumper?
No. The machine is designed for one operator only. Passengers must never travel on the steps, bodywork or inside the skip.
Can it be driven on public roads?
Only where the machine, driver, registration, insurance, lighting and all other legal requirements are compliant. Standard plant hire does not automatically authorise road use.
Can I collect it using my own trailer?
Only if the towing vehicle, trailer and loading equipment are suitably rated. The dumper weighs approximately 1,515 kg before considering the trailer and other equipment.
Is fuel included?
Fuel arrangements will be confirmed when booking. Only the correct diesel should be used, and the machine should be returned with the agreed fuel level.
Can you deliver it to site?
Yes. Build Compound provides suitable plant delivery across Yorkshire, subject to location and availability.
What happens if the dumper breaks down?
Park and isolate the machine safely before contacting Build Compound. Do not attempt to dismantle or repair it yourself. We will provide assistance and arrange a solution as quickly as possible.
